I'm sad about it, but I feel it is inevitable.

Xanga is dead (or at the very best, on its deathbed).

With the exception of the wonderful few that continue to post and update regularly, most people are not even lurking anymore. Plus, the layout of xanga is just getting to be kind of old-school, and I'm a progressive sort of girl. I love my Xanga community dearly, and I will continue to read and comment on your blogs. But, I will be moving to Blogger.

I can't afford to pay for a blog and go to typepad (which is where I really want to go). I have noticed that on most other blogs, xanga is not supported. It has been a good run for the last three years, but as I prepare for my physical move, I will also go ahead and make a cyber move. :)

My new blog address is: http://geidlbots.blogspot.com. Please stop in, say hello, and add me to your RSS, bookmarks, or favorites. I still want to hear from you. If you don't see your blog in my bloglist on the right, it is because you have Sign-In Lock activated, and I could not add you. I will retain my xanga blog for both comments and privileges. I will not delete it.

So with that, I conclude my final xanga post. "Parting is such sweet sorrow..."

Progress, of sorts

1. I talked to five banks yesterday, and we found a bank in Arkansas that is in the town where we will be living. They have a great loan that is perfect for our needs. Praise God!

2. A plumber came yesterday and fixed our shower (an old issue that we had decided we should fix before selling). I had him take a look at the hall bath next to Lucy's room. He said it looked dry by the tub, but he wasn't sure where the moisture in her room was coming from. Her carpet is still damp. We are drying it out with a fan today. Dave caulked the tub two nights ago, so tonight we will use it and see if her carpet gets wet again. If so, then we know that his caulking job didn't solve the problem, and we may have to open up the wall to figure out where the water is coming from. This is a huge deal; please pray that this is resolved by the caulk!

3. I had a guy from church come out and look at the sagging sheetrock in the kitchen. He will be doing this job for us, and should be able to get started either today or Saturday. It doesn't appear that there is a problem with the roof. He thinks there used to be, and the sheetrock wasn't replaced then. He will also be putting up the new shed. He will also repair the wall where the plumber had to cut a hole to fix the shower.

4. Today, I am going to try to find a brother in need of work who will chop up the tree for us. I'm writing so many checks these days, my head is spinning.

5. My spirit is okay. I am having to make a conscious decision to focus on what God is doing and has done instead of what looms in front of me. I know this much--He's doing great things, He's done great things, and He will do great things for us. He never fails. He never sleeps. He never goes on vacation. He's here and He's moving, and I have to trust that.

I'm gonna go worship and put the Enemy in confusion. He doesn't have a chance.

Grrrr.....

So yesterday, I get a letter in the mail from the bank saying that since they couldn't verify Dave's employment or salary, they could not process our loan request. The lady that was supposed to send us this documentation of verification hasn't. Dave has called her and emailed her all to no avail. It really irritates me when people aren't efficient and on top of things in their jobs. Because she has dragged her feet all this time, we now have to start over with loan applications. The only other loan worth doing at our bank would require us to lock in our rate today, and there's an application fee and a slightly higher interest rate. So, this morning, I am going to spend my time on the phone talking to banks about their products. Yea.

I'm annoyed. With all that has gone on with the house and now this little snaffoo--I'm about ready to throw my hands up in the air. But, I won't. Why?

Because God is faithful. He is good. His mercies are new every morning. His lovingkindess is better than life. He is my hiding place. He is my defender. He is my deliverer. He is my strength and my song. He is the King of kings. He is the Lord of lords. He is the God who sees. He is my ever present help in times of trouble. He is love.

I'm going to, once again, spend my day pressing and pushing into that place of trust--that place where I can praise Him despite the advancing army. He will protect me and cover me in the shadow of His wings. Satan better look out.

Stalled

Things are at a halt at our house. We've got three major house issues staring us in the face from this past week.

1. We have to have our ceiling sheetrock replaced in one corner of the house and the roof fixed to prevent this from happening again. It's leaking, and the former owners of the house knew about it and didn't disclose it. We figured this out when Dave saw a fan pointed in that corner of the attic.

2. We must get someone to chop up the tree in the yard.

3. Our bathtub is leaking. It needs re-caulking, and we're hoping that's it.

This is very frustrating. We are feeling very opposed and hindered by the enemy. We'd appreciate your prayers that nothing else will go wrong with our house as we are trying to get it on the market!

Also, I've hit a wall in the cleaning/decluttering. I think it is because I did so much in such a short amount of time AND the fact that we can't sell until we get other issues fixed. I'm worn out from the last two weeks.

Praise! Lucy went 10 hours b/w feedings last night! It was incredible. She ate around 7pm and went to bed around 8:30pm. She didn't wake up until 5am! This is huge. She's NEVER done this. Pray it continues! It'd be great if it could stretch to 7am!!! I just need to go to bed before 11:30!

Praise! My Father is here for me. His mercies are new every morning. He is faithful and true and good. I don't have to live in fear or anxiety. I can rest in His peace, knowing that He is working everything out for my good and the glory of His name. He's not wasting any of this.

Praise! We are all healthy at the moment. I'm so thankful!

Praise! We are able to pay our bills.

Praise! Dave has a good job.

Praise! My daffodils are still alive after the snow!

Praise! The snow is melted!

What do you want to give Him praise for today?

Spring Snow

This is my backyard right now. This is crazy. It's also kind of fun.

The kids won't be going out b/c I already packed (with packing tape) their winter play clothes into boxes. They also wouldn't have any waterproof shoes to wear. We're admiring the snow from a distance today.

I'm feeling a tad grumpy. I think I just need a nap and some chocolate. And I need Dave to come home from work. This month has been harder than most b/c his schedule has been busier. I've missed having him around. I got pretty spoiled in February!

I love my husband. He's so great.

I need to get out of this funk. There's only one way to cure it--press into praise and thankfulness!

Thank the Lord for the beauty of snow and the warmth of the home He has provided for us. Praise Him for His majesty shown through His creation. Praise Him for His goodness, faithfulness, and provision. Praise Him for His excellent greatness! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! He is worthy. His name is above every other name. The whole earth IS full of His glory.

Thank you, Father for a beautiful day. Thank you for the stocked cupboards and nice tax return. Thank you for looking ahead for the repairs we need to make. Thank you for rest. Thank you for peace. Thank you for your everlasting, unfailing love to us. Thank you for healing us and restoring us. Thank you for every spiritual blessing! Thank you for beauty and art. Thank you for coming to our rescue. You are the God who Saves. Thank you for your gift of faith. Thank you for never leaving or forsaking us. Thank you for being awesome and amazing and more than I can imagine. Thank you for loving me so perfectly and purely. You're the best Father, the best Brother, and the best Counselor. I love you.

Things I Miss:

Since I've been in cleaning and decluttering mode, there are several things I have not gotten to do. This proves that no woman can do it all! I've been guilty (and so have many of you!) of comparing myself to other moms. In my estimation, I'm always falling short. I ask the question, "How do you do it all?"

The answer is always the same--"I don't."

The truth is that you make time for what you want to do.

I love to make things for people. I had no idea this was something I loved until I started doing it. However, there are quite a few things that I don't do in order to do this thing of making gifts. For instance, I ignore the dirtiness of my house so that I can make a quilt. I ignore the dishes, the laundry, and the dust to make a sweater for a baby. I ignore vacuuming and sweeping and mopping to make the booties. So, when one of you inevitably asks me, how do you find time to do these things?

My answer is, "I just don't do other things like watch TV or clean or read!"

With all that in mind, I wanted to post a picture of something I miss doing right now while I am so focused on cleaning and preparing the house.

This is the sweater and booties I made for Seth. He is Shanda's baby. He is her sixth little miracle. She is one of those people I've met online and wish I lived down the street from. She's a great mama, a beautiful daughter of God, and an excellent wife. As soon as I heard she was expecting, I knew I HAD to make her sweet baby a present. What's also funny about this is that it was my favorite sweater/booties that I've made so far. I think I loved the colors and trimming the sweater in the brown. Anyway, it made me want to make another. But, this post is about the things I miss...and I miss making stuff.

I also miss sewing. I have everything I need for a baby quilt that is a bit overdue. It just isn't happening right now. I won't let myself work on it until the house is put together. I just hope the baby doesn't grow up TOO fast.

I miss not being sore. I am so sore. Yesterday, I worked on the tile floor--sweeping and mopping. Our tile fills our kitchen, hallway, and hall bath (we live in a ranch-style home). It took me an hour to sweep and mop it yesterday. My back was killin'.

There are several babies about to be born in my life right now--one in April, five in May, a couple in June, three in July...I hope we sell the house soon so I can get back to what's really important...making babies snug and warm. :)

Red(emption)

I just couldn't let those pretty redbud buds go to waste. Apparently, Chicago got the nickname for something political (not having anything to do with actual wind). Well, our wind was criznazy yesterday, and we woke up to this:

<IMG style="BORDER-TOP-WIDTH: 0px; We're sad, though...it was the largest part of our redbud tree.

I have been packing away non-essentials. I made a big mistake when I packed away the kids' cowboy/girl hats. Maryn decided that her panties would work just as well. I wish I could get her to wear the panties and go in the potty...hmmm....

<IMG style="BORDER-TOP-WIDTH: 0px;
I've had to pray for a lot of people this past week.

Despair is in the air. There's been a lot of standing against it in the Spirit lately.

I've struggled feeling like I can't do enough to this house.

I'm letting go of that. I'm going to push on out of it into His rest. That's where I belong.

God keeps reminding me of His rest.

I've learned that I too often take opinions to heart and forget that I get to make decisions.

I've also learned that there is wisdom in an abundance of godly counselors (if I would just listen).

The Lord has done great things for us. We ARE filled with JOY.

I got my hair cut, and it's so cute I want to jump up and down.

Resist isolation--don't let the Enemy get you by yourself where he can lie to you. You need to be surrounded by the Body and listen to the TRUTH.
